- What a 13F is. Big US money managers must tell the SEC every quarter which stocks they own. We collect those reports for 101 well-known investors. ⓘ13F filing: A quarterly report that US investment managers with over $100 million in US stocks must file with the SEC. It lists the stocks they owned on the last day of the quarter. Guide
- It's delayed. Reports arrive up to 45 days after each quarter ends, so holdings are at least 6 weeks old. ⓘ45-day lag: Managers have up to 45 days after a quarter ends to file, so what you see is at least 6 weeks old and they may have traded since. Guide
- Stocks owned only. 13Fs show long stock positions. Short bets, cash, bonds and most foreign shares are not included, and options are kept separate. ⓘLong positions only: 13Fs show stocks a manager owns. They do not show short bets, cash, bonds, most foreign shares or private investments, so a portfolio here is only part of the picture. Guide
